Marty Doscher is founder and director of SYNTHESIS, based in Los Angeles. Mr. Doscher leverages over 15 years experience and expertise as an industry innovator and trusted advisor, cultivating technologically adept, integrated practices that deliver extraordinary results on major projects. As a practitioner, educator and advisor, Mr. Doscher is committed to advancing the design and construction industry through his leadership on technology integration.
Mr. Doscher has spearheaded the technological transformation and development of some of the most innovative and acclaimed firms in the country. As Technology Director and key member of senior management at Morphosis Architects from 2002 to 2010, Mr. Doscher provided the leadership that distinguished the renowned, Pritzker Prize-winning firm as an industry leader in technological innovation and integration. He continues to advise and direct the firm’s computational and parametric design initiatives, and oversee digital collaboration to optimize project workflow and delivery. Under Mr. Doscher’s stewardship, Morphosis garnered more AIA|TAP BIM Awards than any design firm in the industry. From 1997-2002, Mr. Doscher worked with leading global architecture firm NBBJ, to implement an advanced digital practice and engage cutting edge collaboration technologies and workflows to realize major projects.
Mr. Doscher has established and directed advanced technology integration for numerous widely lauded, precedent setting projects of the past decade including: 41 Cooper Square, the new academic building for the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art (for Morphosis Architects/F.J. Sciame Construction); the Wayne L. Morse US Courthouse (for Morphosis Architects / JE Dunn Construction); and the San Francisco Federal Building (for Morphosis Architects), all three of which received highest honors from the AIA|TAP BIM awards program. Additional significant projects for which Mr. Doscher has provided direction include: Phare Tower in Paris, University of Cincinnati Campus Recreation Center, Caltrans District 7 Headquarters, Emerson College Los Angeles Center, Perot Museum of Nature and Science (for Morphosis Architects), and the Phoenix Dodge Theatre, Staples Center Arena, and Philadelphia Eagles NFL Stadium (for NBBJ).
Mr. Doscher lectures extensively and regularly conducts workshops on Digitally-Integrated Design-Build, Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Parametric Design. Notable appearances include American Institute of Architects New Technoloiges, Alliances, and Practices, SmartGeometry, ACADIA, and ZweigWhite’s AEC/IT Strategies, and lectures and workshops at leading universities including Yale, University of Southern California, Columbia University, and Auburn. He serves as Advisory Group member of the American Institute of Architects Technology in Architectural Practice Knowledge Community. His guidance of the software industry is propelling the development of next-generation digital tools. He has authored articles in Architectural Design and ArchitectureWeek, and his work has been published in books and journals including BIM Handbook: A Guide to Building Information Modeling for Owners, Managers, Designers, Engineers and Contractors, Builder News, and Civil Engineering.
Mr. Doscher received his Master of Architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) in 1995 and his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Architecture from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1990.
